രാമസേതു രാമായണത്തില്‍
രാമസേതുവിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ആദ്യമായി പറയുന്നത് രാമായണത്തിലാണ്. സീതയെ രാവണനില്‍ നിന്നും വീണ്ടെടുക്കാന്‍ രാമന്‍ഹനുമാന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ശ്രീലങ്കയിലേക്ക് കെട്ടിയ പാലമാണിതെന്നാണ് രാമായണത്തില്‍ പറയുന്നത്. ഇതുവഴിയാണ് രാമനും സംഘവും ലങ്കയിലെത്തിയതും രാവണനെ വധിച്ച് സീതയെ വീണ്ടെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതും.
രാമസേതു വിശ്വാസം
വിശ്വാസവുമായും ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടതാണ് രാമസേതു അഥവാ ആഡംസ് ബ്രിഡ്ജ്.1804ല്‍ ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാര്‍ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ രേഖകളില്‍ ഈ പാലം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത് ആഡംസ് ബ്രിഡ്ജ് എന്നാണ്. ഭൂമിയില്‍ വീണ ആദം ശ്രീലങ്കയില്‍ നിന്നും ഇന്ത്യയിലേക്ക് വരാന്‍ ഈ പാലം ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്നു എന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. ഇതിനെ സാധൂകരിക്കാനായി ശ്രീലങ്കയില്‍ ആദംസ് പീക്കും ഉണ്ടത്രെ.
ശ്രീലങ്കയിലെ മാന്നാര്‍ ദ്വീപിനും ഇന്ത്യയിലെ രാമേസ്വരത്തിനും ഇടയിലാണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 30 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ നീളത്തിലാണിതുള്ളത്. പണ്ട് കാലത്ത് ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്കും ശ്രീലങ്കയ്ക്കും ഇടയിലുള്ള പാലമായി ഇതിനെ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്നു എന്നാണ് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്. 1840 ല്‍ ഉണ്ടായ കൊടുങ്കാറ്റിനു മുന്നേ വരെ ഇത് കടലിനു മുകളില്‍ കാണാമായിരുന്നുവത്രെ.
സേതുസമുദ്രം പദ്ധതി
ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്കും ശ്രീലങ്കയ്ക്കും ഇടയിലെ പാക് കടലിടുക്കില്‍ കപ്പല്‍ കനാല്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുവാനുള്ള പദ്ധതിയാണ് സേതുസമുദ്രം പദ്ധതി. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഉപദ്വീപിനെ ചുറ്റിയുള്ള ജലപാത കൂടുതല്‍ സുഗമമാക്കുന്ന ഈ പദ്ധതി നിലവില്‍ വന്നാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ശ്രീലങ്കയെ ചുറ്റി സഞ്ചരിക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്ന കപ്പലുകള്‍ക്ക് 650 കിലോമീറ്ററോളം (350 നോട്ടിക്കല്‍ മൈല്‍) ദൂരവും 30 മണിക്കൂറോളം സമയവും ലാഭിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയും. ആഡംസ് ബ്രിഡ്ജിലും പാക് കടലിടുക്കിലുമായി നിര്‍മ്മിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന രണ്ട് കനാലുകള്‍ സേതുസമുദ്രം പദ്ധതിയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നു.
രാമസേതു മനുഷ്യനിര്‍മ്മിതം ആണൊ?
കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചാനലില്‍ വന്ന ചര്‍ച്ചയില്‍ രാമസേതു മനുഷ്യ നിര്‍മ്മിതമാണെന്ന് അവര്‍ തെളിയിച്ചു എന്നു അവകാശപ്പെടുകയുണ്ടായി. ചുണ്ണാമ്പു കല്ലുകളാലും പവിഴപ്പുറ്റുകളാലും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ പാലം മനുഷ്യര്‍ തന്നെ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചതാണത്രെ. ചാനലിന്റെ വിശദീകരണങ്ങളനുസരിച്ച് ഏകദേശം ഏഴായിരത്തോളം വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കു മുന്‍പ് നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചതാണത്രെ ഈ പാലം. പാലം ഉണ്ടായതിനു ശേഷമാണ് പവിഴപ്പുറ്റുകളും മണ്‍കൂനകകളും അതിന്റെ വശങ്ങളില്‍ കാണപ്പെടാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയത്. ഇതിന് ഏകദേശം നാലായിരത്തോളം വര്‍ഷം പഴക്കമാണ് പറയുന്നത്.
